Hello Hello Hello, If you'd like to transport your wedding guests to the sunny skies of California no matter what the season, we've got the right style guide for you! We’ve created this gorgeous theme, along with a mood board and 6 steps to follow so you can recreate our Cali Inspired Wedding look. STEP ONE - Colour Pallet For a Cali wedding start with a base of white on white, if you find this too simple try using different monochromatic textures and patterns. Next add in oranges and corals, these will bring warmth to your design. Add some small accents of pale blue and green and your done! Keeping colour simple and concentrated will ensure design stays sophisticated, be mindful that your florals, attire, and venue all contribute to your wedding colours. STEP TWO - Rose Gold I always love including metallics in my wedding design, for this style I chose to work with rose-gold because it blends with the oranges and corals of the colour pallet. I wanted a metallic that wouldn’t stand out too much and would add soft touches of light, depth, and texture. STEP THREE - Florals For your floral choices mix bold blooms, tropical greenery and succulents! You don’t need to go crazy with flowers for this wedding a few bold accents will go a long way, focus on your bouquets, bouts and isle. Succulents can be used as part of your centerpieces and given as wedding favors at the end of the night. If you want larger succulents to decorate your space or to create a photo background check with family and friends many people have plants in their homes! STEP FOUR - Venue For this type of wedding I love an indoor/outdoor venue, consider a roof top pool or an outdoor terrace. If you’re working with an indoor venue look for a space with large windows, terracotta floors, or white brick walls. All these features will contribute to a fresh Cali look. STEP FIVE - Attire Keep your clothing light and casual! Try a wedding gown that has bold lace and a flowing skirt. For your Maids consider long gowns with a plunging neckline or a thigh high slit in mix-matched shades of coral and orange. For the guys go with linen suits and skip the ties. STEP SIX - Accents Finally add a few accent pieces, mix and match both geometric and bohemian styles for a unique look. These pieces could be a floral or jewelled headpiece, a macramé wall hanging, barefoot sandals, terrariums, geometric candlestick holders, or a triangular arch at the end of your isle. Get creative and choose pieces that speak to you! I hope this Cali Inspired Style has warmed your heart and spiked your creativity! Happy Wednesday! Your wedding planner is someone who you will be in contact with for months, maybe even years prior to your event. Having a friendly, fun, and trust-worthy working relationship with your planner is important. So today on the blog we wanted you to get to know us a little better! We first became a team when our mothers brought us into the world, just twelve days apart! However, less than a year later Olivia's immediate family moved to Vancouver, where she spent her adolescent life. Through snail mail and a few cross country visits, Rachel and Olivia kept in contact. When Olivia moved back to Ontario she and Rachel reconnected. They were both working in the wedding industry and the decision to combine their strengths and abilities was very natural. Together they created Joy Events & Co. Rachel- aka. Ray What is your role at Joy Events & Co? I handle the design side of the business, which really covers all the creative stuff! I work with clients develop their ideas and bring them to life, I also handle behind the scenes graphics and media. What inspires you? I am influenced by art, fashion and trend, I am always mindful of what’s current and what coming up next. I love using vintage and classic looks with a modern edge. When did you get into the wedding industry? My first job in the wedding industry was at a vintage clothing store that had a line of customizable wedding gowns, I fell in love with helping brides create their dream dress. How do you take your coffee? Black What are three 3 Characteristics that you associate yourself with? Bold, Creative and Loving What are the first 3 things you can think of that bring you JOY? Family/friends, great shoes and sunny days! What is one piece of advice you would give to couples preparing for their wedding? Don't sweat the small stuff, decisions like the color of your napkins, or your salad dressing or even your wedding dress may seem like a huge deal in the moment, but at the end of the day you guests won't know the difference, no one is going to come up to you on your wedding day and say "I really wish you chose a balsamic vinaigrette instead of a honey Dijon dressing". Keep things in perspective and make choices you love. Olivia- aka. Liv What is your role at Joy Events & Co? I am the Wedding Planner at Joy Events & Co., I will assist and guide you through your wedding planning journey. I have a calm, quirky and adventurous spirit and my goal is to ensure that all clients feel relaxed and excited as they look forward to their big day.

A good wedding theme will help you to achieve your desired aesthetic or vibe and it will help you make decisions about décor and attire. This way when you’re asked a question like “What dishes do you want?” You can confidently make the right selection knowing that they will compliment your other design choices… not fight them! Now that we’ve cleared up any confusion around ‘themes’ lets jump right into it. Joy Events & Co.’s Top 10 Tips for an Elegant Garden Party Wedding!
1/12/2018 0 Comments Wedding Day Makeup Tips from a ProHappy Wednesday Beautiful Brides to Be! With the summer weddings booked and planned, we wanted to bring you some information from one of the vendors you will be in the closest contact with. Your makeup artist! We got in touch with Daniela from Face Time with Daniela, a highly rated and amazing mobile make-up and hair artist. She was happy to answer some of the most FAQ's we get from our clients. If you've been thinking about natural wedding looks and when to do hair/makeup trials, then this is the blog for you! How soon before the wedding should a bride get her hair/makeup trials done? Ideally the bride should book her hair/makeup trial 6-8 weeks before her wedding day. Trials are a very important preparatory step and should not be rushed. Taking the time during the trial to perfect the look is key in not only determining your look for the big day, but helps tremendously to speed up the beautifying process on the wedding day as well. How long should the bride expect for hair and makeup to take on the day of?Based on the results of the trial, generally I like to book 2 hours for hair and makeup for the bride. Now, every bride is different, and her hair type, skin type, desired look, use of hair pieces and/or extensions, bridal party size, and many other factors come into play. Spending the time to prepare at the trial and communicating up until the big day is significant in having everything run as smoothly as possible. How much time should she leave for her and her whole party to be hair and makeup ready? When the bride is starting to plan out the morning of the wedding, she should allow at least 45 minutes for makeup and 60 minutes for hair, per person; and for herself, as a general guideline. Timing, and more importantly start and end times does depend on what time the ceremony starts/her reveal, and what time the photographer arrives to start pictures. I like to create a schedule to ensure everyone knows where they are supposed to be and when. What advice would you give to a bride who is not used to wearing much makeup?I would say don't feel overwhelmed, you don't have to know exactly how you want your makeup to look. Rather, be mindful of the type of occasion and how formal it is; the dress you will be wearing and accessories; and equally important, how you want your pictures to look. Then discuss these factors with your makeup artist and weigh in their tips and advice. If you are still unsure, ask friends or coworkers about their wedding makeup and their photos, and maybe things they would have done differently, or things they are really glad they did. Any tips on helping the makeup last in these hot summer months?
My top tip for making makeup last through the hotter months is being strategic with your products and where you apply them. For example, if your makeup tends to run under your eyes, keep your eye makeup and mascara on the top part of your eye lids. If your concealer tends to crease under your eyes, try applying it only on the inner and outer corners of the eyes, instead of slathering it all the way underneath. Another tip is to keep blotting papers in your purse and at your desk to keep oil at bay. My favourite product for summer is setting spray-great not only for setting makeup but for refreshing throughout the day. Lastly, tell us about you , your company and what you offer! ❤ My name is Daniela and I have been a makeup artist for 7 years.
